The membership stage of voting is now open, and will be until the 3rd of May 2019. Members of FantasyCon Chester and Glasgow, as well as of the British Fantasy Society, are all eligible to vote, and can do so here.
We are seeking to add to our pool of jurors for the shortlist stage – please click here to apply to join. We are especially keen to extend the diversity of the juror panels.
The annual British Fantasy Awards are determined via a combination of voting and juries. Following an open submissions process, the shortlists are determined by a vote of the BFS membership, members of the previous FantasyCon, and members of the next FantasyCon. Juries are then appointed for each category, with jurors able to add up to two further “egregious omissions” to each categories shortlist. Copies of all shortlisted items are then requested, and the juries consider each before deciding upon a winner.
The British Fantasy Awards Constitution sets out the rules of the awards. Under the current constitution, changes to the awards rules can only be made at an AGM of the British Fantasy Society. Proposed changes must be sent in writing to the awards administrator, and they will then be discussed and, if seconded, voted upon at the next AGM.
All ticket holders for Glasgow 2019 (whether members of the British Fantasy Society or not) are eligible to vote in the British Fantasy Awards in both 2019 and 2020.
